Saturday Sips: Pear Ginger Vodka Cocktail
Here’s another a great cocktail from two of my favorite mixologists – my brother-in-law, John, and sister, Julie. This Pear Ginger Vodka cocktail was our drink of choice during a recent visit. It was a solid four days of excess food, shopping, and, of course, delicious cocktails. After all the relaxation and fun Ryan and I had to face the music. Elliot needed to be potty trained.
Why is potty training the absolute worst?! I’ll tell you why. Because extorting top secret information from international spies would be a walk in the park compared to convincing a surly 3 year old to pee. Eventually all our bribes started to pay off, though, because Elliot did string together a few days of solid successes (by solid, I actually mean “liquid”). Then we got all cocky and thought we had it in the bag.
Everything came to a screeching halt when NUMBER 2 needed to make an appearance.
It’s really unbelievable that a 3 year old can orchestrate the kind of torture Elliot has put us through in the last week. Believe me, we’ve tried everything – good cop, bad cop, the equivalent of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, new shiny underwear, potty parties, a promised Jeep Wrangler on his 16th birthday, but if he could have given us the finger and packed up his bags, he probably would have. Instead he decided to stick it to us by flushing his underwear down the toilet. TWICE. That’s right.
He is really not on board with solids being deposited down a big gaping hole. We’re celebrating the small stuff, though. There was that time he physically picked up his pooped and carried it to the potty rather than let me find it on his bedroom floor. I kid you not.
I know. This too shall pass because I’ve never heard of a guy pooping in his dorm room and carrying it down the hall to the communal bathroom (please God, don’t make Elliot be the first). But, in the meantime, there’s nothing wrong with a little Pear Ginger vodka cocktail now and then to take the potty-training-hell edge off.
