Snickers Dessert Recipe
I am such a sucker for snickers desserts! The combination of sweet and salty with caramel, chocolate, and peanuts always hits my sweet spot. Plus, is there really any better candy bar than a Snickers?!
This pie recipe takes all the essential parts of america’s favorite candy bar and layers it in an almost no bake Snickers pie. The oven is only required for baking the easy press-in peanut pie crust shell.
The salted caramel and apple filling comes together in minutes on the stovetop. Next, mix three simple ingredients for the homemade nougat filling.
It’s all topped with a layer of semi-sweet chocolate melted in the microwave. Who needs fun sized Snickers when you can have a whole pie?!
Snickers Apple Pie
The layer of apple filling brings a juicy burst of flavor reminiscent of another perfect fall treat – caramel apples!
Snickers Apple Pie requires a lot less work and baking time than a caramel apple pie. Sliced and peeled apples are sauteed in butter on the stove top.
After they are soft and golden brown, a squeeze of fresh lemon juice brings a little acidity to bright tanginess to the filling.
How to Make Easy Press In Pie Crust
Snickers pie recipe uses an easy press-in peanut pie crust for a sweet and salty combination. The crust takes minutes to mix together in a food processor, but may be replaced with a graham cracker crust as well.
- Preheat oven to 375ºF.
- In a food processor place flour, peanuts, brown sugar, and salt. Pulse to combine until peanuts are ground into a course meal.
- Add cold, cubed butter and pulse until pea-sized chunks forms.
- Slowly drizzle in cold water until the pie crust starts to clump together.
- Dump into a deep dish pie plate. Press on the bottom and up the sides. Prick bottom of crust several times with a fork.
- Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Set aside to cool.
How to Make Snickers Pie
Caramel Peanut Layer
While the crust is baking make the peanut salted caramel so it has time to cool. This caramel recipe is simple to make since it requires no candy thermometer or precise temperature readings.
-
Place sugar in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly. Sugar will clump up, turn brown, and eventually melt into an amber brown liquid.
-
Add the butter after all the sugar has melted. Stir vigorously until butter is incorporated into melted sugar.
-
Slowly whisk in heavy cream. Mixture will rapidly boil, so be careful. Stir and boil for 1 minute.
-
Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 cup of peanuts. Cool for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Apple Filling
As the salted caramel is cooling, make the easy apple filling. No sugar is added to the sauteed to apples to counterbalance the sweetness from the caramel, nougat, and snickers candy.
-
In a large nonstick skillet melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced apples and sauté, stirring occasionally, for 7-10 minutes, or until apples are soft. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.
-
After the crust and apples have cooled completely, pour the apples into the pie crust.
-
Spread on cooled caramel layer on top of apples. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until caramel hardens.
Homemade Snickers Nougat Filling
Arguably the best part of a snickers bar is the fluffy nougat. No Snickers Pie recipe would be complete without this essential layer!
-
Combine marshmallow fluff, 1/4 cup peanut butter, and powdered sugar in a large bowl. Combine with wooden spoon or electric mixer on low speed to thoroughly mixed. Everything will come together into a stiff ball.
-
Spread nougat over cooled caramel layer. Use fingers to flatten and shape over the caramel.
Chocolate Topping
A layer of chocolate peanut butter ties the pie together and makes a great canvas for garnishing the pie with chopped snickers!
-
Place chocolate and peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl. Heat for about 1 minute, stirring every 20 seconds, until melted.
-
Smooth on top of nougat.
-
Garnish top with chopped candy bars and chopped peanuts. Refrigerate for 30 minutes, or until chocolate is set.
How to Store and Serve Snickers Pie
Store leftover snickers pie in the refrigerator. Before serving let Snickers deep dish pie set out for 30 minutes to come to room temperature.
For the ultimate decadent treat serve Snickers Caramel Apple Pie a la mode with ice cream. Alternatively top with homemade whipped cream or Cool Whip topping.
