Sparkling Grapefruit Vodka Cocktail recipe combines fresh ruby red grapefruit juice, tangy grapefruit vodka, and a sparkling fizz. This grapefruit cocktail nails the perfect refreshing, tangy taste and is also easy to make!

The Man Behind Vodka GRAPEFRUIT Cocktail
This grapefruit cocktail recipe is another stellar libation brought to you by the most dedicated mixologist I know, my brother-in-law, John.
John would love nothing more than his final resting place to be adorned with the epitaph, Made One Helluva a Drink.
Sometimes life can get in the way of our true passions, though. Alas, his gravestone will probably say something insignificant about being a devoted husband, father, and surgeon.
I’ll admit. We are spoiled by Dr. John’s stellar drinks. Sometimes we are allowed to actually enjoy them before he rips them from our hands.
“DON’T DRINK THAT! I’m going to add something to make it better.”
Lucky for you, grapefruit vodka cocktail recipe has been perfected to be enjoyed without abrupt interruptions.

How to Make Grapefruit Vodka Cocktail
I love this grapefruit cocktail recipe because it’s easy to make and not hard to remember! Combine three simple ingredients in three equal parts. The ingredients include:
- Grapefruit vodka – See below for recommendations.
- Grapefruit juice – Use freshly squeezed ruby red grapefruit juice or store-bought ruby red grapefruit juice. My favorite brand is Simply Grapefruit.
- Fizz – The original recipe uses ginger ale, but 7 up, Sprite, or club soda will work. Club soda makes the drink less sweet.
Vodka grapefruit Choices
If you are looking for the best grapefruit vodka for this cocktail, you’ll need to weigh quality with affordability. For parties and big batches, I would use something midrange.
With the grapefruit juice and ginger ale, it’s hard to detect a huge difference in taste, but here are my preferences in best to least.
Recommended Grapefruit Vodkas:
All of these brands are very affordable and taste great!
- Finlandia Grapefruit
- Smirnoff Grapefruit
- Absolut Grapefruit
- Skyy Infusions Texas Grapefruit
Not Recommended Grapefruit Vodkas:
- Deep Eddy Ruby Red Vodka – This brand is sweetened with cane sugar, so I find it too syrupy with the ginger ale. For a simpler drink, pair this with soda water to cut the sweetness.
- Belvedere Pink Grapefruit – Although this is great tasting, I don’t think the price is worth it for this recipe. It would make a fantastic grapefruit martini, though!
- Pinnacle Ruby Red Grapefruit
Can I Substitute Gin?
Yes, you may substitute gin in this recipe as well. Either pair it with the ginger ale, or swap with tonic or soda water.
Additions and Modifications
- Garnish drinks with fresh herbs such as rosemary, sage, or basil
- To save calories and reduce sweetness substitute soda water for the ginger ale, 7up, or Sprite.
- Alternatively, use a combination of soda with ginger ale.
- Add a splash of cranberry juice for a sparkly Seabreeze version.
- Substitute regular vodka for the grapefruit vodka for a slightly less pronounced grapefruit taste.
Can I Make it in a Pitcher?
Yes. Make this in a pitcher for easy entertaining! Follow these tips so the drink isn’t watered down or flat when you are ready to serve.
- In a 64 ounce pitcher add 1 3/4 cups grapefruit vodka and 1 3/4 cups grapefruit juice.
- Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
- When ready to serve, add 1 3/4 cups ginger ale and fill with ice.
