TAMALE PIE

Tamale Pie is an old school casserole with layers of seasoned beef, cornbread, and melted gooey cheese. Made from scratch, yet quick and easy, this recipe is perfect for a weeknight meal!

Ingredients

Cornmeal ∣ Sugar Baking Powder ∣ Egg Butter ∣ Milk Cream-Style Corn Ground Beef Enchilada Sauce Salsa ∣ Chili Powder Cheese

For the cornbread, whisk together cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, eggs, and butter. 

Pour into a greased skillet or baking dish. Bake for 20 minutes while beef is prepared.

Brown the beef and add salsa, chili powder, and half the enchilada sauce.

Remove the cornbread from oven and poke holes on the top. Pour remaining enchilada sauce on.

Layer with seasoned beef and cheese. Bake for 15 minutes longer.

Can I make it with chicken instead?

Yes! To make chicken tamale pie use 3 cups cooked, shredded chicken in place of the beef.
