Green Bean Casserole

Gluten-Free!

Made from scratch with no canned soup so it can easily be adapted into a gluten-free and dairy-free recipe!

Ingredients

Fried Onions: buttermilk ∣ onions  GF flour ∣ seasoned salt Mushroom Soup: butter ∣ mushrooms  garlic ∣ onion powder broth ∣ cornstarch milk Green Bean Casserole: gluten-free fried onions ∣ green beans cheese ∣ milk ∣ GF soy sauce ∣ seasoned salt

Soak onion slices in buttermilk for 10 mins. Add gluten-free flour, seasoned salt, & pepper to a ziplock bag. Briefly drain soaked onions.

Add the onions to the flour mixture and shake to combine.

Heat oil to 350ºF. Add the onions to the pan in 3-4 batches, stirring briefly with wire skimmer.  Fry for 3-4 minutes, or until golden brown. Set aside.

Melt butter and add mushrooms. Saute until soft, then add garlic. Whisk together broth with cornstarch. Add to mushroom mixture, stir until thickened.

Stir together green beans, soup, cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup onions, seasoned salt, & milk. Spread in baking dish, top with more fried onions, & bake.

assemble + bake

Yes. Substitute vegan butter and non-dairy milk. Omit the cheese from the recipe.

Can I make this dairy-free?

Whatever you want! For fresh or frozen use one pound or use 2 cans, drained.

What kind of green beans should I use?

No. The soup or onions can be replaced with retail gluten-free products.
