BAKED ZITI RECIPE

Creamy, cheesy baked ziti  with ricotta and mozzarella uses only six ingredients, is freezer-friendly, and easily adapts into a gluten-free recipe as well!

Ingredients

Ziti Eggs Ricotta Mozzarella Cheese Parmesan Cheese Marinara

Cook pasta to slightly less than al dente. This helps the pasta to not become mushy after baking. Drain and rinse with cold water to stop cooking.

STEP ONE

Make the ricotta filling. Whisk eggs then stir in ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan.

STEP TWO

Layer the marinara, pasta, ricotta filling twice. Top with more grated mozzarella on top. Bake for 40 minutes.

STEP THREE

Can I make this gluten-free?

Yes! To make gluten-free baked ziti boil the pasta for only half the time called for on the package before layering with ricotta filling.

Can I make baked ziti ahead of time?

Yes! Assemble the casserole, but do not bake. Cover securely and refrigerate up to a day or freeze up to 3 months.

Can I add meat or veggies?

Yes! Either brown 1 pound Italian sausage, ground beef, or saute veggies. Layer the meat or veggies on top of the ricotta.
